There used to be a time — at least when I was in high school, sitting in my civics class — that I marveled at how our government works. Perhaps, it was just my naivete, but on the surface, it sounded as though Americans had a system in which we could all trust. That system — our democracy — has not only been under attack by outsiders — The Russians — but those in elected positions who lied to their constituents — just to get into power to promote an agenda that certainly is not beneficial to all Americans.
When those in the Republican party are no longer “part of the republic” because they have decided their agenda was more important than the people — we all lose. How do I know?
Let’s look at 2016 Election or not. Those of us who know and understand truth, don’t have a problem looking at the fiasco for what it was — a treacherous, treasonous act by not a foreign actor, but domestic ones — primarily — 45 and his gang of thuggabes (Ryan, Gowdy, McConnell, Burr, and all the rest) who not only knew about the Russian hacking, but became complicit in the knowledge since they agreed to “let it happen” so they could win. So, with the Russian hacking and propaganda, the software hacks that counted ballots, and the bribed Electoral College, the repugnant republicans steal the election, amidst all the noise spewed by trump claiming Hillary was rigging the election. It was rigged, but not by Hillary.
And then there is all the money that went into SuperPacs provided by the Russians. Let’s not forget the “confirmation hearings” of liars and thieves that were rushed by McConnell — all of the appointees who were not qualified to do anything but have a position because of “pledged loyalty” and big buck donations. What a shame! Way back when — no one could have persuaded me to believe our government was for sale to the highest bidder or the most pathetic pathological liars ever found.
With all the corruption and lying and conflicts of interest, and nepotism and in-breeding, where does it all end? I have no clue, but I’m willing to fight to bring America back from the abyss it’s about to fall into — if we all don’t stand up and speak out and wherever possible — “run for something” and change the landscape of politics by taking the plunge and the oath to faithfully discharge our duties.
An oath of office by elected officials — especially as we can see on a daily basis — means nothing to the republicans in office and we — the Everyday Americans — must change that and make sure country always comes before political party.
Presidential Oath — “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
I guess in all fairness, no one can expect trump to uphold his oath of office since he has no clue what the constitution says, but that doesn’t negate his responsibility to learn and do what’s best for the country, not his family and their businesses or his base of supporters who will feel the consequences of their shortsightedness soon.
Oath for the rest — “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”
It is apparent — that these career politicians have lost their way since they have the power to alleviate the anxiety felt by most of the country by removing trump from the office of President. But they won’t — because they are more loyal to party than country and they’re reaping the benefits of being in power (majority in Congress and with the Executive lead) and they’re not willing to concede that power. They won’t have to — 2018 is coming and there will be a Blue Tsunami washing over the country. Maybe then, governing the country for the benefit of the country will work again. If not, there’s always 2020 — and I plan to be a big part of that one.
While I cannot speak for every person running for elected position, I can say I enter the political arena with no political baggage, but with integrity and a desire to serve all Americans. As an educator I know the importance of obtaining knowledge — especially since I obtained college degrees late in life.
You see like so many other people — life got ahead of me when I didn’t make the wisest decisions when I was younger. It’s not a complaint — it’s an observation — one that many Everyday Americans could make. And now — it’s time for an Everyday American to help steer this country back to a place where people can trust those they elect to do what they say for the benefit of all — not a select few.
I’m wise enough to know what I don’t know and how to gather those who do know to help govern the nation and not demolish it. I’m a firm believer that love trumps hate and peace is better than war, and will make every effort to make sure our planet survives for many more years, and our descendants will reap the benefits of those who cared enough to do something about global warming and how it affects our entire environment.
If you’re like me, you’ve given up on expecting truth and integrity and honor from many who are holding positions of power in our government. I would ask you to consider supporting an Everyday American — with no millions and no celebrity — to help turn the chaos around that currently exists in Washington. I can guarantee — that when people who care about people are in positions of governing — no one wonders — what happened to our government.
A website is currently available as an introduction to whom I am and I hope you get a chance to check it out. www.everydayamericans2020.com and remember, my planned candidacy is not about me, but everyday people and all they need. Please promote my name — that’s all support I’m asking until such time that I can reasonably conclude this presidential run will be a success. Thank you!
